New health requirements, mainly affecting temporary visa holders, came into effect on 20 November 2015. The new health matrix contains two risk levels – required or not. Visa applicants from countries considered safe will generally not be required to undergo health examinations for stays in Australia of 6 months or less. However, nationals from several countries including Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Singapore and South Africa are among those not on the ‘safe list’.
